A new brand to John Anthony this season is Raf Simons X Fred Perry. Belgium designer Raf Simons, who not only produces a main line collection under his own name but was also recently appointed creative director at Dior. The collaboration see Raf design a collection for British Heritage brand Fred Perry on which he says:
” ‘Collage’ – SS13 offers a very controlled and pure do-it-yourself attitude. The collection shows a juxtaposition of very different materials, prints and colours, therefore giving the wearer a possibility to combine the garments in different ways.” Raf Simons
Here, detachable double collar polo shirts, oversize hounds-tooth prints, floral and pattern block button-ups sit amidst slim silhouettes, displaying sensibility in blending classic sports motifs with louder designs, while still being eminently wearable.
Spring/Summer 13 sees Simons uses classic patterns such as oversized hound-stooth, animal prints, as in the Panther Print Fred Perry Polo Shirt and florals as used in the all over Floral Print Fred Perry Polo Shirt.
Bright colour schemes are used to put a spin on some Fred Perry signature garments and the use of detachable double collar polo shirts are a play on the college theme. The intarsia knit polo shirt features a striking all over graphic motif pattern with soft single rib detail at the collar, cuffs and hem. Tone on tone embroidery with 30 leaf Laurel Wreath/Raf Simons signature can be found on the chest on plain polos and cotton knitwear.
