Adidas has been the leader in sportswear for as long as we can remember, producing top of line innovative products for all sports. They sponsor world championship winning teams, are endorsed by some of the biggest names in sports like style icon David Beckham, and over the past ten years have started to collaborate with some the biggest names in fashion.

The collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto began 10 years ago, and it’s been a fruitful partnership between the Japanese designer and the German sportswear brand. Something which started of as simply a footwear range with the award winning designer, has now expanded into a full clothing line. Adidas are now firmly on the fashion radar, our perception of the brand has moved beyond buying your annual pair of trainers and some gym kit (moved beyond but not away – it’s still a classic when it comes to a new pair of running shoes), and is now looked at not just as a sportswear brand but as a fashion label itself. Adidas are now catering for both the sporting world, you just have to look at the GB Olympic team’s kit (another designer collaboration with Stella McCartney), and for the fashion conscious modern man.

Anyway enough of the general stuff, there’s a new brand on the [Adidas] block – Adidas SLVR. The newest member of the family is described as ‘a contemporary sportswear collection that fuses innovation and tradition’. Dirk Schönberger has created a line which embodies both sleek style and functional fabrics, making this collection as must have for AW13. We love the way that you can still see classic Adidas within the collection through the subtle sportswear shapes, but that’s been overpowered by the sheer elegance and strength of the range.

This collection is full of attitude. The neon yellow Adidas SLVR jacket (above) is gem for this Autumn as a striking but simple piece that will just add a shot of colour into an outfit. This jacket would be perfect from now through until the really cold months, where to be honest it could still be worn over a warm knit…

Also in this week is the AW13 collection from Y-3 which celebrates it’s 10th anniversary with the concept ‘Future Thrift’. The collection brings two very different aspects together creating a bold and conceptual look, which shows ‘how coming generations might mix elements of tradition and technology’. For menswear it’s all about the standing out this season with bright and bold tones of acid green, hot pink and bright orange, contrasting against the elegant tailoring that is heavily emphasised through the mens jackets and coats. It’s a great anniversary collection, something we’re looking forward to wearing this autumn.
