It’s that age old question, something that could seriously define you as a man; Are you a boxers or briefs kinda guy? Lets be honest it’s all down to personal preference nothing else, and that’s something we do not judge upon at John Anthony. Here at JA we aim to provide for all styles and tastes, whether it’s men’s clothing, footwear or even underwear, it’s all relevant. So considering this, we’ve introduced a new addition to our underwear range, which now sits alongside our two other brands Diesel and Armani. Dsquared2 Underwear is a new venture for the Canadian twins Dean and Dan, and we already love their clothing range so we decided to just keep adding to it.
Dsquared2 have made a name for themselves as the design duo that conquered the Italian fashion industry, worked for two of the biggest names in fashion, and went on to create a buoyant and extremely wearable label themselves. Lets be honest D & D are just really cool guys, even the name of their brand is cool, it shows their sense of humour and intelligence which is reflected through to their clothing. They both graduated from Parson’s School of Design, and have dominated the menswear fashion world over the past few years, drawing in huge celebrity names and even getting a certain blonde to strip their models on the catwalk (enter Christina Aguilera ). They tend to be thought of as a single entity, which is fine by them as they come as a package deal whenever they’ve interviewed for positions – it’s both of them or nothing at all.
.,. .. .
Talking of packages, this season the dynamic duo have delved into a new area by launching the underwear collection. Of course as it’s Dean and Dan behind it, it was bound to be head turning and eye popping which it indeed was, and that was even before the range was launched! The warm up image which was released earlier in the year was taken by photographer Steven Klein, a veteran when it comes to underwear campaigns having worked with Calvin Klein over the years. Well that image of model Matt Woodhouse bent over retrieving his ‘briefs’ in nothing but a t-shirt and a eye patch, definitely got us intrigued as to where Dean and Dan were going with the range, and it stuck with us until the launch. The collection consists of a whole range pieces from long johns to briefs, and we’ve got in a selection of trunks and briefs in the classic colours of grey and white. The cut is slim line and low, but the jersey looks great and has the quintessential branding along the band. We’ll soon be seeing Dsquared2 above every waistline with it becoming the new must-have underwear name, and we can see it being a popular gift idea this Christmas, I mean who wouldn’t want a pair of Dsquared2 tighty whiteys in their stocking….
