“In Paris, you can buy beer at McDonald’s. Also, you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris? … They call it a Royale with cheese.” – Pulp Fiction

Beyond buying beer with a McDonald’s, Paris really does have a lot to offer to the modern gent. Fashion is part of their national identity – along with the baguettes and frog’s legs – it’s one of the attributes they can be exceptionally proud of. Whatever your feelings towards our neighbours across the channel, it’s undeniable that they are a nation who know how to dress. Proclaimed to be the hub of creative cultures, with copious artists, architects and designers all hailing from the streets of Paris. Please don’t think that I’m dismissing our own unique style, because let be honest we all know that the Brits have some of the best designers in the world and our home-style is just as sort after across the globe. However there is something so appealing about their nonchalance and European ‘cool’. Stereotypes aside, Parisian design is easy to appreciate with it’s classic approach and simple elegance. Beyond the finely suited gents walking along the Champs-Élysées, there’s actually this whole other world of Parisian creatives from street artists and DJs, to the graphic designers and illustrators who all own a completely different look. These are the guys who are a little rough around the edges, with a more contemporary scruffy approach to fashion. It’s all about tradition vs modern…

France must have more stereotypes than any other country in the world from their love of frogs legs, to their – lets just say – relaxed feelings on manners. Some may be true, some may not… but I know for sure that the fashion stereotypes are right on point. The love for scarves (ever heard of the Parisian knot?) and roll-necks? Yes, always an essential if you’re trying to impersonate a Parisian. The general look seems so effortless – but this could just be that sullen look they seem to have about them – but actually a hell of a lot of effort is put into these simplistic ensembles. You really need to think what’s going to look effortlessly cool, but well put together?  So for those who are yet to give this iconic style a go, we’ve put together a few ensembles which all have the essentials you’ll need. It’s down to you to nail the attitude…

Look 1  -Dressed down with that creative edge, this still manages to look sophisticated in it’s own way.
