As soon as the Christmas decs are down and the new year health regimes have begun, we jump straight into Spring. There’s nothing like diving head first into a new season to brush off those January blues. The perks of a new season of fashion kicking off at what may seem like a premature point, means that you can start the new year with an wardrobe upgrade! Perhaps this is where the whole ‘new year new you’ idea comes into things….I’ll leave that up to you.
There are a handful of key trends that we saw flow through many of the S15 shows back in June. I’m not going to overwhelm you with all of them right now (baby steps for those still in that January daze), instead I want to turn your attention to the one big trends that popped up all over the place. Stripes. That’s it, just simple stripes. To be honest stripes aren’t exactly a big shocker for spring/ summer, they’re a perennial piece that always make an appearance. Just like eggs (my Mother always says you should always have eggs in because you can make so much from them), they’re one of the most versatile prints out there, you can create anything from smart to casual, to quirky or contemporary. Just like eggs…
When you think of stripes your mind probably goes straight to the classic crew neck t-shirt or a striped oxford shirt. And there’s nothing wrong with that, they’re both staple pieces that many of us can boast owning. But this season with so much on offer, it’s a good idea to branch out and try a few new things. Why not give knitwear a blast or even some striped tailoring? To give you an idea of what’s available from this season’s collections, we’ve pulled out a few favourites that answer the call for stripes.
