From the floral clad hippies of the Sixties to the oversized acid washes that dominated in the Eighties, denim jackets have always had a place in men’s fashion. The well established style has been at the core of fashion for more than 5 decades, making it important enough to throw the spotlight on. It’s invaluable when it comes to effortless and easy-going style, perfect to throw on last minute as you’re running out the door – the only thing to be aware of is an accidental double denim situation….
For me, it’s ideal for the transition from Winter to Spring and Summer to Autumn, providing enough protection from the chill but not too much that you feel like you’re traipsing around the desert in a ski jacket. The beginning of Spring is blooming (excuse the pun) perfect for the denim jacket, layering over shirts, jumpers and even t-shirts on the more sunnier days. The thing I like about this iconic piece is it’s overlooked versatility, people often brand it as the uniform of young hipsters and grubby indie rockers. FOR THE FESTIVITIES
Festival season is soon upon on us with Coachella kicking it off this weekend, it’s time to start thinking about what to pack. If you’re going to one in this country then you know it’s a fairly even toss up between you wading through mud or returning roasted, so the option of a denim jacket is going to be useful. Plus it’s a time honoured tradition to wear denim to a festival….One word: Woodstock.

EFFORTLESS AND COOL
It’s that look which isn’t built around anything particularly striking – being made up of simple classic pieces – but it ends up looking so bloody cool as a complete look. It’s for those cool guys who just ooze effortless style. Black jeans are somewhat essential for this, at a push navy….
