Hudson shoes have long been a favourite of ours with that easy-going London style that has the unique ability of looking both smart and casual. It’s usually suede chelsea boots, tassel loafers and leather lace ups coming in, but this season we had a surprise when we opened the delivery. Hudson London have launched their first sneaker collection. And we have it.
The Hoxton based brand have collaborated with Rachel Alsbury, who boasts an impressive CV having worked at Clarks Originals, Sergio Rossi and Puma. As Creative Director of Puma, she worked on the Alexander McQueen and Chalayan collaborations, and most recently worked with Christopher Kane designing his sneaker collection.
The collection is made up of just two styles, two very unique designs that have been made in Portugal. Both sneakers feature a specially developed exclusive runner outsole – some speckled, some not. Sime is the classic design out of the two, a minimalist lace up made from a single piece of premium leather. Laser cut detailing and a contrasting suede panel are the only exterior features, inside there’s a neoprene sock. Brodie is the more technically designed style with a multi lace fastening, exposed neoprene sock and nubuck upper. The styles are available in multiple colourways.
For their campaign, Hudson teamed up with two brothers from London – Kuda and Shorai. The guys teach a unique mix of yoga and calisthenics to a devoted legion of followers across London. It’s an exciting new venture for the brand, one which shows their capability as designers and their advancement in the footwear industry.
