Maison Margiela is here. We’re excited to welcome the French fashion house to John Anthony for Autumn Winter 19. Bringing a unique approach to men’s fashion, these pieces are clean and contemporary with elegance.
For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, it was founded by Martin Margiela in the late 80s. The Belgian designer redefined classic pieces, deconstructing and reinventing and often rendering the garment anonymous. Blurring the lines between masculine and feminine, you’ll notice a clinical vibe with its favoured black and white palette. The first menswear collection was launched in the late 90s, some calling his work era-defining, Martin later left his fashion house in the hands of British designer John Galliano.
The pieces we’re stocking this season really portray that signature Margiela aesthetic, from post- apocalyptic Maison Margiela trainers to stark white Maison Margiela shirts. This collection nods towards the idea of authenticity, embracing the Gen Z crowd with digital prints, mocking the stereotypes with their cotton t-shirts branded with the definition of the word.
